Anybody else see this scam on ebay?

Cue was listed on Facebook by Classic Cues in 2024, refinished with 3 shafts.

They had 2 identical ebay ads for $680. One sold. Cue unrefinished with 2 shafts, one looking not original.

Cue crafted for Ned Nordin in 1988.

On my phone, couldn't post link for some reason.

I've seen so many obvious scam listings recently. A fancy block letter Joss was listed for $675 two weeks ago with the exact same photos and description as another listing. Sold within a few days and now the seller account appears to have been frozen. Not sure what the point of these listings are. They don't actually get the money do they?

Their pricing is always in that $6xx.xx range. I don't know how, but they must be making money, otherwise why persist.

This one was interesting because that name produced nothing in web searches, but the cue isn't hard to find generally.

Seems to be happening a lot lately. I do see multiples of the same cues happen when the seller(s) are in Japan.

Those are slightly different and generally legitimate, although in the same vein. Those are professional brokers/scalpers/middlemen that are reselling from Japan-only marketplaces. If you buy off of them, they'll try to buy it from the original Japanese seller.

It's super common for niche luxury items, like clothing, handbags, luxury pens, etc.

That's what I figured this was earlier in the year. I don't know if there is more than one, but I have seen a cue exactly like this in person at Scott Gilmore's shop.

By the way, this is the refinished cue posted on Facebook by Classic Cues in 2024. Obviously the scam seller found and used pictures of the cue before the refinish.
