I am fairly sure that is two questions;)

Is the cue new or used?
These cues play good for a production cue and if you get a good deal then I would say go for it. There are other cues in this price range that may play better though.

Ive played with one, and have an adams classic, which is exactly the same cue, and I think they're an above average cue. I also have a helmstetter VIP which I love. Ive always been a fan of his. for the same money, I would go for a schon or mezz though.

As an aside, Dick Helmstetter was also the creator of Big Bertha golf clubs. Last I heard he was living in Japan and probably a gazillionaire. I wish he would have done more for pool. He certainly had the ability to do it.

Richard was recruited by Ely Callaway to help with his design of the Original Callaway Wedges, which had a wooden shaft (with steel down the core). Ely felt Richards experience in the pool cue business would help with this. Shortly after Richard developed the S2H2 (no hosel) design in the Callaway Clubs, then followed by the Big Bertha.

The rest is history as they say.

Good shootin

FYI I worked for Callaway Golf for 7 years and have always wanted to get my hands on a Helmstetter cue for this reason..

I don't get it. So, was I wrong in saying he created the Big Bertha line and that he is now incredibly wealthy?

No, you were correct. It just came after the wedges and s2h2. And yes, he did pretty well financially...
