Hi Sarah
I've been attending tournies over at ride the nine in bloomington,
and I heard u grew up in there, playing since age 12.
what are your opinions about this room?
I think it's top notch. Good fast tables, well kept, not too loud--
an all around nice place.
Do you ever make it down that way anymore?
I'd like to meet/play you sometime if you're ever around.
thanks for reading.
peace,
David

Hey David,

I did grow up playing there from the time I was 10. My family was the original owner of the pool room. It is top notch for the area. Jillians in Champaign gives it competition, but that is more of a bar than a pool room. It is well kept, but things used to be better years ago. It was more focused towards pool players rather than drinkers. Which is a tough way to try and make things work. The money is definitely not with the pool players. I do make it to town every once in a while. I was just there for Christmas but I didn't have time to make it to the pool room. We will have to get together whenever I make it back. I will be sure to let you know when that is.

Take care,
Sarah

Yes, Jillians is where I usually play, but I dislike it because it is a bar and most of the clientelle(sp?) are people who don't respect the tables, the game, or the other people trying to play.
(and the music/sports are turned up WAY too loud.)
There is, however, a new place in downtown urbana called crane alley (bar also) with brand new diamond 4x8's with simonis cloth which is very nice. You should check it out, It's my new favorite in champaign-urbana.
Well thanks for the reply and I look forward to seeing you sometime!

I will have to check the new place out if I get a chance. I haven't been to Jillians in a very long time, probably 6 years. They didn't really want me there because I was way underage and it was difficult for my parents to drive there on week nights for tournaments that they used to have. But I agree that everything is way too loud there. The wood floors make it so loud. Everything just echoes and cue balls fly if they are hit off the table....I play pool so I don't have to do any exercise :)...Just kidding. Well, take care and thanks for posting.

Sarah
