Rifinish without rewrapping a cue.

Recently, I carelessly (but accidentally) banged the butt section of my cue against the brass corner to a Gold Crown table and put a big chip in the finish. There are also some other dings in the finish on the phenolic butt cap.

A few months earlier, I had a new lizard wrap put on the cue so I want to know if its possible to refinish the butt section without having to rewrap the cue. I know some people won't do it. Is it possible and if so, can any of you guys point me in the right direction?

Yes it is possible, but you might not get as nice of a look where the finish and wrap meet as you are hoping for. I have added inlays to butt sleeves and put the finish on with linen still on. Linen can be sanded a little and your leather can't so it may not come out as nice.

I have the same problem with a production cue, and have been curious - what would it cost to do a refinish and rewrap an irish linen cue?

I am too covered up at this time to take on any finish work, but there are several cuemakers on here that should jump in with quotes for you.
