These new "Ring Games" are great.....when they happen. Grady was trying to get together another one this year at Derby when I arrived for the Nine Ball part of Derby. Grady already had 3 players backed in a new ring game and was looking for some more backers for the remaining players. A couple of my friends and I quickly saw a player that we knew had a really good chance at taking it off...But, Once we realized that the player gets half of the prize money we changed our minds because the return on the cash wasn't worth the risk. Like watching the poker player go "All IN", It takes a little luck to win those ring games. With changing the order.......Your player may not get to shoot for 4 or 5 games. They are really fun to watch, and the player is willing to put up some or if not all of his stake...they are a good deal. I would like to see one of these 30,000 dollar ring games on TV right after the Poker tour.

Excuse my ignorance but Im sure there's a few other guys out there wondering the same thing, ho exactly do these ring games work?

I originally thought everyone plays everyone and winner takes all but I get the impression its a little more involde than that?

Anyone care to enlighten me?

Take Note: You might be the next in order to shoot after Archer, But he breaks the 10 ball and follows it my a break and run and then leaves you hooked on the One ball after the his Second break shot......and the game is at it's final stages of a 1000 a game. You have to make an honest effort to make the one, So you kick at two rails and sale out the table to the player following you. Now, 5 games later and 4 more players.......your next and Archer runs out again. Now, the Bet is doubled to 2000 because it's on the hour and it's getting late.....So, they redraw the order excluding Archer who is getting ready to break and guess what Pill you Draw.....Number 5. Hopefully, the 5000 you started with at the beginning has lasted long enough that you get an open shot.
These Ring games are fun and exciting watch.....but you have to play great and be a little lucky with the draw and the timing of when the bet goes up to win.

These ring games bring in the excitement of the "luck" factor where you must have the luck of the draw. Like in Poker. This is where a semi pro can beat a top pro. Like Chris Moneymaker did in 2003 Poker world series. Why Phil Helmuth or a Doyle Brunson can get beat on the "river" by some weaker player. Of course the cream will always rise to the top but being lucky is what draws in the ordinary fan who has hope for his favorite player.

PS Thanks Vagabond. Maybe Ill have another excuse to visit that mysterious but exciting city.
