Ring Game Info

Keith,

I've read some articles that have covered the results of ring games, but I haven't been fortunate enough to see one, therefore I'm left without an understanding of how a ring game runs. I am definitely intrigued by this fan feature and player thrill, and as a player/promoter I'd like to try it in an upcoming tourney.
I know that each player starts with a bankroll and gets eliminated when they run out of money, until there is one player standing with all the cash. What I don't know are the details like: How many players usually make a good game...what kind of time frame should I look at...who breaks next/shoots next...is player rotation always the same...is every player involved in the same frame...are there push shots/safety plays, or is it completely offensive...when and how much do you normally raise the stakes, etc...
Your experience with this would be appreciated if you have the time. Even a link to an informative site would be good. Thanks!!

Stryker, I haven't played in any of the ring games lately, but I've played in my share of them for some real money. The way I used play is the bet would be raised every hour. Everybody has so many chips, just like they do in a poker tournament. If everybody has 10,000 in chips and they're playing 500 a game, every hour they raise it up 500. When you run out of chips, you are done.

There are now variations of ring games which have become quite popular, but I haven't been fortunate enough to participate. The rules do vary, depending on the event and who's running it.

The one thing I don't like about some of the ring games today is if you have to put up 3- to $5,000, there is no added monies. As you can imagine, it is real hard to come up with that kind of a bank roll, unless you are sponsored.

I too would be interested in more information about this topic. I understand that the stakes are raised every hour or so but how are the pairings worked out?
Do the names go in a hat for example and do the pair play a set or just one game.
