I'm thinking off organizing a local 10-ball ring game with a few of the good players in my area. Does anyone know the complete rules for organizing something like this. I just need some advice on fouls and such. Also what decideds when the ante goes up??

Cheers guys. :)

You decide when the ante goes up!....The rules are basically the same as 9ball and...

NO SAFETIES, you must go for the shot!
If theirs a scratch, it's ball in hand in the kitchen.
If the lowest ball is IN the kitchen on a scratch, it gets spotted.
The ball before the money ball gets spotted on scratches.
Winner breaks.

The players can also flip coins after each game to see follows the breaker.

and most important...never get in a 3 handed ring game with guys you don't know, because you will get squeezed in the middle and chopped up!:D

In addition to this we’ve played shoot again. Which means that if a player misses or commits a foul then the incoming player has the option of shooting the shot or having the previous shooter shoot.

Also, consider changing order after 5 or so games instead of every game.

Corrections ...

If the ante goes up (or money balls increase in value), then it is not a ring
game, it is 'Last man standing' or a 'Texas Holdem' game in Pool.

Redraws DO NOT occur after each game, they occur at agreed intervals,
like after every 15-20 games.

One of our rooms has a ongoing offer that whenever 6 guys want to play
a 'Last Man Standing' match (Texas Holdem), it will conduct it for them.
They have 3 versions you can play, $20, $50, or $100 entry per man.
Usually 1st and 2nd get money back.

I played in a normal ring game the other night with 4 other guys, just a
friendly game, with $2 on the 5, $3 on the 10, and 10 respots if made early. I was $40 down before I got a shot that wasn't a jump shot. Ring games or Texas Holdem games can be brutal sometimes.

I once watched Matlock in a friendly ring game for $10 a man with 6 other guys on a big table run 9 10 ball racks in a row.

if you're going to be betting high, then understand that people are going to be crying over "honest effort" a lot. also, people are going to cry a lot over 2 way shots

Well we wont be betting high but i'm still expecting quite a bit of that!

What i'm thinking is £20 buy in then £2 for the first 10 games, £4 for the next 10 then £6-£8-£10 and so on, does that sound about right to you guys?? I'm hoping to get a total of 6 player and play winner takes all, £100 payout for a afternoon playing pool doesn't sound bad to me!!! :D

When your down to the last 2 players is it straight to low man goes all in?

Cheers for all the info, its been very helpful.

I'm hoping someone sets something up like this here in Arizona in the near future. There was a ring game last year, 10 Ball, IIRC, that Jimmy M. won. $2,500 I think. I have no idea where or who set it up but I hope they are planning to do another. Maybe $500 a man, 10 Ball, and do it just like they do it at D.C.C. If anyone here knows of the the one I mentioned, could you fill in the blanks for me? Thanks in advance, peace, John.

Well i've been thinking of doing something like this for a while now and after watching the vids of the DCC ring game i made me get my arse into gear and try to sort something out!! I know we're only going to be playing low stakes but is still think it will make for a very entertaining afternoon! :)

OH yea, ring games are fun as hell!....We used to have them when there's a bunch of players in a room and nobody wants to match up.

I used to look at it like matching up with all of them at once!:D

At Classics we used to have a 1 and 2 ring 9 game going, and partners snooker at .10 a point going all day!....no one got hurt, but much fun was had by all....
