Ring Games

I was watching the recording of the GSBT ring game that SVB won, it was very enjoyable to watch, especially with the panning between the tables. I was curious if when some one misses and leaves the next shooter safe, does the next shooter have the option of making the original shooter take the shot. I did not see anyone do it and was just wondering. If they don't, they should. I wonder if they could do some kind of tournament this way?

I'm not familiar with the rules GSBT is using for ring games. However, the Ten Ball rules on the Predator Tour require you to call a shot or a safety each time you shoot. If you miss a called shot, your opponent can make you shoot again. A legal called safety requires that the incoming player shoot from where the cue ball lies.

Not sure about the GSBT rules, but often you can make a shooter shoot again only if he doesn't make a legal hit. I think a 'tournament' of some kind with the ring game format would be very popular. Some of the most incredible things you'll ever see in pool come when a great player is forced to try to make a ball on every shot.
