RIP Chet Itow...former owner of CA Billiards in Mountain View,CA

Thank you so much for the post. Since moving away from the bay area I have lost touch with many. But I'm happy to say that I was there from the beginning.

Chet has been battling illness for many years, I am very saddened to hear of his passing. Chet's goal of creating the best pool experience in CA and maybe the country was certainly met - it began to make sure the spirit of the original CA Billiards after it closed maybe 4-5 years before Chet opened his. Making sure there were great pool, 3-C billiard, and 6x12 snooker tables for all. He always had the players in mind when he was planning the room. He and his wife were very nice owners & Chet ran that room with an iron fist to make sure it stayed the nice room that was intended.

He will be missed. I hope the room continues to be the great place it was.

Again, thanks for letting us know.

Dave

Chet began playing in my San Francisco tournaments in the early nineties, and he was always the kind of player any TD would be happy to see. Chet was a true gentleman who played the game as it should be played. I was very happy when he told me he was opening a pool room. We knew he hadn't long to go, and cancer took him down. Now both Chuck Markulis and Chet are gone, two of the best people in California's pool community.
