RIP Paul Sorvino

which flicks?
"goodfellas" is what paul is probably best known for (and where that clip is from)- if you haven't seen it, it's worth a look.
I watched ½ of it forever ago. VHS tape iirc. I don’t remember any of it. Not a thing. I need to watch it for sure

Ray Liotta was in that I think. I used to see him at Golds Gym in Venice. He was always on the bike reading the newspaper riding slower than any person ever. He looked sad actually, never spoke to anyone that I can recall. Golds Hollywood, North Hollywood & Venice is where so many celebs used to train.

Some were nice, some really introverted. Halle Barry was beyond beyond beyond good looking in 93-95. She also is super nice and friendly. Mark Wahlberg was never happy, but was cool with the guys he knew. The guy who was the dad in Fresh Price of Bel Air I think it was called-the big guy with the beard was super nice. He passed from a heart attack some years later.

I’ll stop there, fun memories. Usually I’d only recognize maybe 25% of notable people, but my friends who worked at the gym knew them all and would point them out. After a year-most we’re regulars I was able to recognize them. The more I think about it, the more I can recall.

Was a great time in my life. Not because of the Hollywood stuff, because I fell into a biz I was good at and got fit at the gym after a few years. The famous people just happened to be there-or I happened to be there. It wasn’t on purpose.

But later in life makes good memories and at least I have a story to share.

Yeah that was fun, then the OJ trial started 😂, that was interesting

Fatboy <———someday when im real motivated to type I’ll tell that story. Wow😳

Think I saw him at the DCC in 2009, regardless, RIP Paul:

Amongst all the regular suspects the last few days, I saw Jack Cooney walking around. Ronnie Allen holding court every day at the same table, drink in hand, in front of the tournament room. George C. Scott's brother was there with an amazing looking blonde -- your legs and my legs put together would not be as long as her legs. (I would not bet on combined chest measurements either.) There was also a fellow that, I swear, looked exactly like the guy from Goodfellas, Paul Sorvino, walking around, cue case on shoulder.

Yes that’s him. Was such a nice guy. I never spoke to him more than “good morning”, but I knew lots of people who knew him well at the gym. Super nice social person. I never saw that show and therefore never recognized him. He was very well liked. The gym in general has a good positive vibe to it.

Jerry Orbach (Dirty Dancing & Law and Order) and now Paul Sorvino. All three gentlemen were pool enthusiasts and loved the game. Saw Paul at a tournament (I believe it was one of the IPT events back in the day), he was hanging with a group of folks and certainly seemed to be enjoying himself. RIP

You can also go back a generation or two before these fine fellows- Jackie Gleason, baseball pitcher Bo Belinsky, Cub manager Leo Durocher, and actor Robert Ryan ( lived and played in NYC in the early 60s)

James Tolkan (Top Gun & Back to the Future), Jerry Orbach (Dirty Dancing & Law and Order) and now Paul Sorvino. All three gentlemen were pool enthusiasts and loved the game.
