Both the Riviera, and Circus Circus are dumps, you want a nice room sty at a nice place like Caesars Palace, Paris Paris etc. but it will cost more then the DUMPS.

granted the riviera is not the best hotel in vegas - but for staying there during the tournament it is a good idea.

I would rank the towers as:

Monte Carlo - 1
Mediteranian Towers (north/south) - 2
Monaco - 3
San Remo - only if you smoke

yes fair enough but if wanted to go nice and classy you would stay in the wynn or encore,

but with the event been held in the riv it makes total sense to stay there !!

i stayed in the smoking part last year as i said in my post above and it was a dump, however i happened to see a room in the monaco and i was impressed, obviously not wynn standed but compared to the smokers tower it was loads better !!

stixnballs , so are u saying the standed of rooms is better in the monte carlo and the mediterrainian than the monaco ???

I normally get a room at the RIO, it is a suite, and cost about $35.00/NIGHT. Last time we stayed at Circus Curcus, we said like the last time we were at the RIV. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Not sure we will both with Sin City this year, as money is very tight!!!!!

I always stay in the monte carlo...it has the largest rooms. I have not been in the monaco since it was redone last year, but the room i saw looked nice, but was smallish compared to the monte carlo. also the monte carlo has the best access to the casino / pool / and make a quick left out of the elevators and into the hallway to the tourney area.......

just my 2 cents - everyone likes something different. I personally am staying at the RIO this year for the first 6 nights and switching to the Riv for the team event only.

Some of the old hotel Downtown are OK, room are better then the Riv, and Circus, and you can ride the bus to the RIV. The only thing I can say I like about Circus Circus is the penny slots, and they have lots of em.

so it looks like the monaco for me then, or the monte carlo, i get there on the 9th which is early so maybe they will let me have a look at the rooms ?

i totally understand the point about there been better hotels than the riv, but if im been honest it was stopping in the riv on my first visit ( last may ) to the bca special, you cant beat playing your match, looking at the standings sheet, noticing u are next on in a few hours time, nipping up to your room and u back round the pool in 10 mins, and the same when u are due back on.............BRILLIANT !!!!

Bruce.
Give me the number of the lady you talk to to get those prices because average is $135.00 at the Rio.

I am guessing he is using comps / discounts related to his players card, like I am. that is how you get a good rate (lose thousands and they give you a discount).....

Staying at the Riv

This year the Riviera will be doing several special events - only for registered guests!

Go to page 3 of the Event newsletter: Slot events - drink and food specials etc.

There is also a very good chance the Riviera hotel rooms will be able to view the TAR feed for all 5 days fo the US Open 10-ball. (Free)

It is a lot more 'user friendly' to be in the host hotel for playing your matches and hanging out with everyone. We have a lot of things going on this year and it is a lot easier to take advantage of them when in the host hotel.

I have said before and will sy it again. Without the Riviera, most of the pool events would not exist. You can always find a cheaper or nicer room - but I believe in loyalty. I will always support those that support us!

Agree - partially

Mark,

I agree with everything you said about the Riviera. I have stayed at thsi property for the entire tournament for the last 9 years wether it was for APA / BCA / VNEA. The staff has always treated me right.

If another property wants to give someone free rooms and the riviera is not willing to accomodate that, then it is hard to justify staying at the Riv, in this economy.

Look forward to meeting you when in Vegas.

If anyone is looking to reduce their costs at the Riv, my plans for a room share with someone else fell through and I need to split a room with someone.

I'll be working at the PoolTees booth all day every day so the only time I'll be in the room is at night to sleep.

I need to check-in Thursday May 13 and stay for the entire event. If interested, please PM me.

Thanks.

in Jan, I locked in a super cheap rate at Circus Circus from May 17th-22nd for $200 including tax. My buddy from Fresno will share the room. Can't beat $100 for this event.

that cheap rate u got is good and i hope im wrong but u may be staying outside the casino in a 2 story building wich is all the way in the back of circus circus. u might want to call and check if thats a problem for u. it takes about 1/2 hour to walk from that 2 story place to the entrance of circus circus not counting the walk to the riv. hope im wrong
