Ronnie O'Sullivan breaking lefty just for kicks I guess

Ronnie O, is no doubt the best pool player who ever lived! However, due to rarely playing 9ball or 8ball, those are not his best games!..If he were to devote any time to learning those games, he would be unbeatable at them too!..But why should he bother?..He has dominated the most lucrative, and financially rewarding game (snooker) for years now! The other games pay peanuts, compared to snooker!

How do you think a player like him would do at one pocket? Or any of the top snooker players?

When Ronnie O is in the zone, he is absolutely amazing. I've watched him play many times on hahasports (it is one of the few you can get live snooker streams on here in the US). The thing I like most about him, is his tempo. For him it's very seldom a grind. Just think and execute, usually quickly.

Like I said, given the time to learn any game, Ronnie would be a force to be reckoned with..However one pocket is a very unique game, that requires a very different set of skills, than almost any other game, including snooker! Top one pocket players have spent many years learning, and perfecting those skills! If you pay close attention, to guys like Frost or Alex, or even SVB, its not all about running 8 and out..Its the moving, the imagination, and the strategy that gets you the opportunity to have a chance do that!

Even a player like RO, would have to go through a very long and treacherous learning curve! He would almost have to forget about snooker, and play only 1P for several years. Given his age, and the success he's enjoyed at snooker, I really don't see that happening!..Not impossible, given his talent, but not very likely at all! Maybe a much younger top snooker talent might pull it off..But he'd have to fall in love with 1P, and forget all about snooker for quite a while!

Thanks for your input! I've wondered about this for a while because there are a lot parallels at least in concept between one pocket moving and tactical play snooker. At the very least a snooker player should have the right temperament for one pocket. But you are probably right that it would take a long time to pick up the moves.
