What would be the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM room size for a 4 x 8 table?

5 feet on each side! Think about it.....a cue is 58"......and you need enough room to shoot.
The playing surface on a home 4 by 8 is 44 inches by 88 inches.
Add the length of the cue in each side plus some stroking room.

I sorta figured as much. Looks like I should buy a couple of 48" cues for playing around then. I need the table for practice. unfortunately, the only empty room I have is 12-6 x 19. Thanks all.

Yeah don't sweat it too much, my table is pretty cramped right now, I have one side and end where I can really get down on the ball and I do most of my drills from that side, it's still increased my game immensely.
I've got a couple of shorter cues I bought too for when me and the wife are playing an actual game. One of the cues we fondly refer to as the "f**k me stick." While it's not ideal it's better than nothing and we still have a ton of fun. We are hoping to move soon and a place with enough room for our table is definitely on the agenda.

But, we have a "push the cueball" a few inches rule when we play.
I wanted a 9 foot table and was not going to budge.
Home 8 footers are just too small for my liking.

I figure that unless I'm shooting exactly perpindicular to the long side I'll be just fine. I was wondering if anyone else here had this dilema.

Yep! I'm glad i'm not the only one! I have a 7 footer and its good on all sides except one corner we used to use half a stick to shoot there,I went out and bought a trouble shooter today and it works great all i need now it to buy a little smaller cue than the 58 in i useually use and i will be fine it that other little corner i have too! But all in all the table is ok! I was kinda sweating it too thinking maybe the tight fit will hinder my game but hereing all the good stories an here made me fell alot more confident!
