Hey all, a small group of friends and I are making a trip to St. Louis next weekend. I know OHB was talking a while back about how there was alot going on. Just wanted to know the best places to see action. Thanks.

I like to play at Cue & Cushion located in Overland, Mo. OHB cut his teeth in that Room. :D OHB plays in a Room close by located in Cahokia, Il. I heard there is a lot of action going on over there. Have a great stay in St. Louis & don,t play OHB One Pocket.. you have been warned! :D

No Knocken Allowed! - Cut Shot

Opie - Cut Shot is right in as much as Cue 'n Cushion - It is a great poolroom ran by a great family. Some good One Pocket players & games. Very comfortable room to play in. I have played a lot of pool there over the years but I started at Grand & Olive Billiards some 44 years ago. I would actually say I "Cut My Teeth - On The Road".
He is also right that I play at The Break in Cahokia, IL - It is just 2 mi from the downtown bridge & Arch. It has been slow lately. SUMMER - Also, the owner who attractes the most action is on vacation but will be home & back in action next week.
Now where he is mistaken, is that stuff about playing me any One-Pocket. How does he know how you play? And after all - I'm just an OldHasBeen. There are plenty of other players, (9-Ball & One Pocket) who also play at both places as well as 3 other good rooms that are in the area.
If you want my (800) #, just PM me and I will be happy to talk with you.

I just remembered - There is going to be a One Pocket tournament next week end @ Chesterfield Billiards. It is also a very nice, up-scale room. I am thinking of playing in it.

Thanks for the reply. The tournament you mentioned sounds fun but I don't ever get a chance to play much one-pocket. On these rooms you mentioned, are they mainly 9 footers? I was wondering cause all I really play on around here are 7 ft. Diamonds.

10 - 7 footers @ The Break

There are 10 7 footers @ The Break. David Matlock, Tony Fargo, Sparky & many other top Bar Table players have had many Big Sets there.
Good Action, Good Equipment & Maybe Good Food.
What else could you ask for? If your looking for anything to do with Pool (Except "The Nuts") - Come On By!

Give a shout to Sarah Rousey, i know she just got totally moved in to St Louis, so she should know where to go for a game.

Opie, come to the Break and if I can't recognize you when you walk in the door I will put Justin Bergman in the box against you on a bar table.

I'm afraid I'm not on the level of those players you mentioned. If I stop by, it'll probably be just to watch some of the big dogs and possibly side bet on them. Thanks though.

P.S. Another poster mentioned setting me up with that Bergman kid, he'd probably spank my ass too, hehheh.

Don't get me wrong.

I just mentioned those players to let you know YOU can get action because they (some of the best) HAVE.
There are ALL levels that play & BET @ The Break.

I got ya. Thanks.

Opie-
The Break in Cahokia is where the Action is at!
You've also got:
- Teachers Billiards in St. Peters MO and Fairview Heights IL
- Chesterfield Billiards
- Brenden's Billiards in Fairview Heights IL
- Sharky's Billiards in Collinsville IL
- The Bullpen (Mark Wilson's place) in Collinsville IL (Sarah Rousey has been hanging out there)
- Riverbend Billiards in Alton IL

Many others, but just naming the ones I'm more familiar with. I think The Break and Chesterfield has the most Action and higher caliber players. The others listed have some great players, but more B rated and below on regular basis. Give me a call when you get into town, I might be able to meet you somewhere,if you're interested, depending on what's going on! 618-409-4175.

What's the purpose of the visit? Just a weekend getaway?

Good luck and have fun,
Zim

Afton Billiards

Might check with OHB, but Afton Billiards used to be a decent place for action in St. Louis. Just went to Chesterfield Billiards a few weeks ago when I was in St. Louis. I would avoid that place unless there is a tournament going on or something. Absolutely no action!!! Place is filled with teeny boppers trying to act cool and banging balls around. Not a serious player in the room. One older couple playing some one hole (they both suck) and that's it. No action from them. The Break sounds like the place to be.

You should've asked the bartender to play....you could've got serviced.

He wasn't there. I know who you are talking about. I'll play any one of the kids they had behind the bar anytime. Why you trying to dog me? You don't know if I'd get serviced or not. Guy asked about action in St. Louis, went there four nights in a row and nothing

Yea. I'm not going there to try to get MYSELF into serious action. I'm just gonna be in town to have fun, maybe bang a few balls around, and hopefully sweat a big money game from the rails.
