Now this is a type of thread I like cause its all about YOUR favorite. Personally, I prefer rosewood over bacote and I'll tell ya' why. YES, Bacote does play very well when used as a butt end of a sneaky pete cue, but to me, the looks of it leave a little to be desired. I'm just not that big on how it looks. Rosewood, on the other hand, is a nice simple looking, yet great playing wood as well. It offers good feedback, and it even has a nice solid sound to it. I like it as the butt of a sneaky pete cue better than Bacote. NOW, I have never used either wood as the forearm of a cue so I'm not sure if either has any advantages over the other there, I've only used them both in a sneaky pete cue form. As far as striped Ebony is concerned, I prefer Ebony to show some "grain" when I have it in a cue, I don't like it being all black. I like my woods to show some "character", so I don't try getting the top grade stuff in any of my cue orders...As this can very easily be attested to by anyone who has seen my cues. I'm not sure if I've ever personally used "striped" Ebony, but I've had some pretty wild looking Ebony in the past, so maybe I have. Ebony is in fact one of my favorite woods for cues because it shows "grain" better, and more often, than alot of woods out there...Not to mention it plays VERY nicely! It may be a lil' on the heavy side, but thats a small price to pay when I'm looking for a nicely looking and playing cue. So, my votes would be in this order. EBONY, ROSEWOOD, then BACOTE
