Rosewood question

Some rosewood darkens, some doesn't. There are dozens of varieties of rosewood including tulipwood, blackwood, and all the others.

thanks. I forgot a vital word... brazilian. im sure there are a lot of variables. I have a friend who has a really old gibson guitar with brazilian rosewood. the guitar has been passed through the family, and my friend's dad is an accomplished wood worker who is just now beginning to build guitars himself. In anycase, the father stated that the brazilian rosewood had darkened a bit over the years. Just wondering if they same thing could happen in cues with a similar wood.

Not all Brazilian Rosewoods will darken, but some will. The type of finish put over it helps stablilize color also. A good UV resistant finish will slow the darkening process down.
