I was wondering if someone could share or direct me to some information on what the proper hieght of the round nose bit is to come in contact with the product in the head stock. My friend took his out of the toolpost to sharpen it and forgot to put the shims back in. I need to get it back cutting correctly. Any help is appreciated.

I set mine against a center in the tail-stock. The top of the cutter should be exactly dead center of the point of the live center, minus .002 or .003. Just slightly below the center line.

Very slightly below center gives you a nice chatter free cut. I align on a center in the headstock chuck.
