Router or spindle speed

I'm working on another project and not wanting to have several different router mounts made. i don't like the piece of angle with one bolt holding a router, is has come lose many times and ruined a few things, luckily noone got injured.
I'm looking at a cnc spindle , the mount would be easy to make , and a spindle doesn't have limitations on the bracket, like most routers do.

However, I'm weighing the options and seeing, most cnc spindles don't have the higher rpm's as a router.

my question here, how much speed does one really need, on a lthe, for hogging stock down or cutting points

I'm using a 2.2kw spindle with an er20 collet capable of 24000rpm. I don't think I generally use it over about 14000rpm. I keep my cuts relatively shallow and my feed slow.

The spindle is great, very quiet.

I'm similar to DeeDeeCues. I have a 2.2kW spindle on one machine and a 0.8Kw spindle on another. I generally frun them at 16,000 rpm and feed rates vary from 5 ipm to 20 ipm, depending on the operation. Every lathe is going to be a little differenct, so you will need to experiment with what works best for your setup.

5ipm... Sounds like we are exactly in line. I can likely go faster, but haven't chanced it yet.
