Coos Cues
I tried cutting out a pocket in a butt cap of Tomahawk with my router table to inlay my logo. It seems this stuff wants to melt instead of chip. Gummed up my bit before it broke off. Normally these bits don't ever break with my feeds and speeds.

Using a .020 two flute square bottom end mill. The same one I use to cut out the parts and have done all my other pockets in wood, juma, phenolic etc with but this stuff seems to get gooey at a real low temp. I noticed this drilling it too it gets warm and melts early on in the temp scale.

Is there a better bit I can use if I want to cut pockets in this material? Or is that just the way it is?

Thanks

I have engraved my logo/initials in a Tomahawk butt cap and never had a problem. That is just a shallow engraving, not a pocket. When drilling, you do need to drill with an intermediate drill before your final drill.

If it is melting instead of cutting it could be a dull endmill, too slow a feed in relation to cutter rpm or in adequate chip evacuation. I would first try a brand new endmill reduce my rpm and increase my feed. As well I would add some air for cooling and blow out the chips.
