A few weeks back someone asked about an RSS feed for AZBilliards. Well, here you go:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/fps_external.php?type=rss2&qty=20&items=active&postlen=full&forumids=6
Specifically, you can read up on it here. Note that this version is for vBulletin 3.0.x, and this site runs 3.5.x. The proper version is installed, but the instructions for its use are the same, and those instructions were written back in the 3.0.x days. So those instructions, linked, are still relevant and correct.
I'll break up the URL above and explain the pieces. For more, you can go to that thread or ask here...
http://forums.azbilliards.com/fps_external.php
Base URL that gets you a feed. It defaults to RSS 1.0 (I believe), but you can change that with:
type=rss2
This specifices RSS 2.0 spec. Most feed readers/aggregators can handle RSS 2, so use that.
qty=20
Choose the # of items to show in the list. Make this 1 or 100, though 20 is a pretty sane choice.
items=active
Shows the threads in order in which they've been responded to, not the order in which they were originally posted. Include this if you want to see the "active" threads, not just the most recently started threads.
postlen=full
You can also put a # here, like "postlen=40". This would cap the post length to 40 characters. Note that the post shown is the first post, not the most recent one. Showing the last post is a requested feature the author is aware of.
forumids=6
You can choose which forums to include in your feed. Here I've included only the main forum. Had I used "forumids=6,46" I'd get a feed that contained posts from the main forum and the IPT forum. You can find the forum IDs pretty easily. For example:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6
That's the main forum. "f=6" tells you the forum ID = 6.
These options can go in any order. They should be separated from the Base URL by a ? and from each other with an &. In other words:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/fps_external.php?option=value&option2=value2&option3=value3 (etc.)
If you don't quite understand what this means, I'll try to help, but then again if you don't quite understand what all of this means then maybe the RSS thing isn't for you just yet...
Some good RSS readers:
Mac OS X: PulpFiction or NetNewsWire
PC: FeedDemon
