Rubber cushion comparison

The room where I play has 2 Diamond Pro 9' tables and 18 Gold Crown IV's. After playing on both tables I have noticed that the Gold Crowns are much faster and the Diamonds are much tighter. But I am surprised at the difference in speed rebound off the rails. Also, when kicking off the rails the Diamonds have a "thud" sound and the Gold Crowns are noiseless. I have heard that each table company use different manufacturers to supply their rubber cushions. What are your opinions of one cushion vs the other in playability or longevity? BTW all tables have 860 Simonis cloth.

I just had the cushions replaced last Tues on my Diamond. They had developed a thud to the point one rail was almost like wood. They had gone hard. The table mechanic that replaced them told me the Diamond and Olhousen use the same type of rail rubber. For some reason it can harden with age. When he took it off he showed me by trying to bend it, it cracked. I replaced with Brunswick Superspeed. Love it.

The mechanic said - knock on the rail edge with your knuckles like you were knocking on a door. If it hurts the rail is hard.

Cushion comparison

Pelican, I believe the rail rubber for Diamond tables is made by Artemis and the rails for Olhausen is a synthetic rubber they call Accufast. Your solution seems like the best one to me too. Did you retain the same pocket size (tight)?--Doug

Pel, that is not true at all. Diamond tables one time used Championship cushions. Olhausen uses a pure rubber cushion called Accufast and is made here.
Diamond now come equipped with Artemis cushions.
Superspeed and Championship are made by the same people I believe ( DNR ).
Artemis is very good. Better than Superspeed imo. It will stay livelier longer according to Ernesto Dominguez.
Accufast will last forever but it plays differently.
