I have a 8 foot table on hardwood floor and would like to put a rug under it. What size rug is needed?

Same as for min room size, stand at the table with the cue at the edge, note where your back foot is, measure to there from table, add a foot for comfort and taller people, you got your size.
Do you just want just the table legs on the carpet or the walking / playing floorspace around the table on the carpet as well? I would choose one or the other, and would not have the threshold / transition between the rug and the floor in the area where you walk around your table and plant your feet when you're shooting.
Option 1 - a 7'x5' or 8'x5' rug just to cover the 4 legs. Option 2 - at least a 16'x12' rug - which gives you roughly 4' of carpeting all around the table where you plant your feet while you play.
