i have a rules question and apologize ahead of time if this has been recently addressed....

ok, here is the situation that came up last weekend and i made the call based on what i have seen before but do not know if it is right or not.

player a: scratches on the last red.

player b: has the rock in the D, but the 2/yellow is also located in the half moon.

i advised player b that he had to shoot the 3/green (which wasn't spotted or in the D). player b shoots the 3 and makes it.

we then pulled the 2 and spotted the 3 and player b scored 2 points.

is this correct? thanks.

No....when the last red is gone, you're on the yellow.
When you have ball-in-hand in the D, you can shoot any direction....
...including within the D.

Well answered pt109 I'm still struggling to see how he scratched the red, didn't he have a tip on his cue or did he hit it with that rock he had on the table?

Maybe there was a draught and he needed the rock to keep open the astrology book at the page refering to half moons ?

And whats this.. "we then pulled the 2 and spotted the 3 and player b scored two points"

Player A scratches on the last 1 ball.
Player B then shoots the 2 ball , with the rock in the half moon, in any direction.
If player B cannot hit both extreme edges of the 2 ball, from anywhere inside the half moon, it is a free ball.
Player B can then nominate any of the remaining colours as a free ball, which if potted would count as 2 points, and the free ball is respotted.
This is how we say it in England, cheers.:p

This is how we say it in England my arse!

scratches, shoots, 1 ball, 2 ball etc, half moon, rocks and others such as rails have naff all to do with snooker or the English language.

Somebody's been drinking too much of the slops they sell as beer in his local witherspoons methinks. :D

Divided by a common language, huh?
Try and stick to Mid Atlantic English when you're not discoursing with the
natives, please.

And I've got a feeling how you dreamed up your AZ name, Shef........
If you called a 'D' a 'half moon' in the place I played at in Sheffield....
...Ken Taylor would've back-handed you over six tables.....
...or 'tibles' as I heard them called at the King's Cross in London.

regards
pt
