I was looking over the WPA rules for 14.1 and didn't see a rule concerning how the balls were placed in the rack for the opening break.
I recall old rules that specified the 1 ball and 5 ball in the lower corners for the opening break.
Did I miss something? Was this an oversight in the rules text? or .. is it no longer a rule that is in affect? Anyone know?
Also, the rule on pushing is still very ambiguous.
The rule I liked was verbalized by Grady Mathews some time back where he said, so long as your stick is jacked up to a 45 degree angle and the CB shows some "character" when struck it is not considered a push.
In other words the cue ball does just about anything other than beat the object ball down the table and you're jacked up its ok.
Dallas West mentioned that they used to play that one free stroke at the CB was considered OK in any event, but I think that goes too far.
