I had a friend call me this morning, I was having my morning coffee. Hisn question to me was (I ran tourny for long time} if a player banks a ball for side pocket, but accadintly knocked a piece of chalk on table and the ob hit it and still went. was that a foul????? well it used to be if qb jumbed up hit light ond or hit object and came back on table it was considered a foul. can anyone clear this up for him. I looked in texas express did not find answer thanks OLD MAN STICK

It is a foul by every rulebook I'm familiar with. A object foreign to the playing surface struck a ball in motion. Object ball stays down and the opponent gets ball in hand on the next ball. It is no different than accidently moving two balls on the playing surface while the cue ball and object ball are in motion whether or not they were in position to affect the outcome of the shot.

That's a foul. Contact with a foreign object principle. A little unlucky, but I've seen much worse. In the 1980 World 14.1 Championships, Jimmy Burke lost his run because the bowtie from his tuxedo came loose and it fell on an object ball. Ouch!
