Runout measurement question

I emailed indyq and asked him about the measurements he has on his SW cues. He replied with an explanation of what a joint and butt was.

I know what "A", "B" "Joint", and "Butt" are. What I was asking is how (exactly) is he coming up with these measurments. Is it total runout or what? One of the cues has .025 at the butt. That's a mile in machinist terms.

Is he putting the cue between centers and measuring at each location or what?

Look at the link and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Call Mike Stacey. He checks all of those cues. The way I understood it is as follows. Roy from IndyQ compares his cues to a standard SW. Some people order there cues thicker or thinner. He is just telling you the specs of the cue.

.025 would be off .0125 on either side (one side high .0125 from center line, the other side 90 degrees opposite .0125 low from centerline) Not too awful bad, you would see less than 1/32" worth of light rolling in on a flat surface...... but this being that far off at the butt makes me wonder a few things. Is the bore he was using to center actually at true center, is the buttcap lopsided (new buttcap made and installed later) or is the finish a little thicker on that side for whatever reason?
I find it odd that the handle measurements would be acceptable and the buttcap be .025 off.....
I just looked for it on there, and it is at the back of the handle, the butt shows .000 ....... so the back of the handle is a little off.
