Russian pyramid table

Since the balls used in Russian pyramid are bigger are the rails higher up than a standard snooker table?
I'm curious if for practice, I can just buy the pyramid balls and use a standard snooker table and it will react the same as in a Russian pyramid tournament?
Thanks! Nostrovia.

well obviously the balls will bounce at contact with the rails is there is much speed at all, and very poor rebound regardless of speed

Snooker tables have a T shaped profile while Russian billiard tables have an angled profile similar to most other tables. Russian billiard balls are the largest diameter of popular games and therefore the rails need to be aligned with the center of percussion of the ball (2/5R) from center (or a little less?) I need someone to verify that this fraction is correct, maybe Bob Jewett can.

Also the Russians hit the balls very hard to compress the cushions and use a lot of inside spin for caroms along rails. Snooker tables would be a different game.

I am certain the balls will react differently but it is still worth practicing.

Wow. Thank you so much for explaining this. I love all the detail you provided. Thank you.

Russian Pyramid Balls are either 68 or 69mm at Diameter. Our club have 2 pyramid tables. We also had Pyramid table with snooker rails and Pyramid rails so we could set it up for either game. Sold it couple years ago.
