There was a time, when America was so much stronger than virtually every other country at many things. In golf, America used to dominate the Ryder Cup. Not just win but dominate. The same goes for many other sports and games.
Times have changed though. So many other countries have developed great athletes as well as great competitors at games such as golf and pool.
In my opinion, for America to remain competitive in the Ryder Cup and also pool, there is going to have to be some changes.
Consider this; the US population is listed currently as: 321,216,397
Europe is listed as: 738.442.000
There are the numbers!
How can the US expect to remain competitive with those numbers?
You see, in the past, the US was so good at virtually everything, except soccer that is. The US had won so much that it was expected for the US to win.
I don't have the solution for things to remain competitive though.
If Europe was divided into all the countries that make it up, the US would start winning big again. Why? Because the numbers for each of the countries that make up Europe, are going to be much smaller than the US.
But...if the powers that be in the US, decide that they just need to up their game to be able to compete against Europe, when Europe has such higher numbers of people, that's fine by me.
My suggestion though, while Europe is doing so well against the US in the Ryder Cup and Mosconi Cup, is that Europe might be a little more circumspect...and realize that with more than twice the number of people, they should actually be winning more than they currently are...in the Ryder Cup and Mosconi Cup.
With more than twice as many people, Europe should be winning pretty much every single time.
