You can "escrow" a cue. There are a few people here who will handle an escrow. For a small fee, the escrow will receive the item from the seller and the payment from the buyer. The escrow will then give the buyer any info necessary, including pictures, to verify the condition of the item. If the buyer okays the transaction, then the escrow ships the item to the buyer and payment goes to the seller. The extra cost for the transaction is the escrow fee plus an additional shipping fee.

just buy from truly trusted sellers. ones that have been in business years and have a spotless rep.
never send any type of money that you cannot cancel the transaction if it gets delayed or not complete,

or any significant deposits that are going to be held more than a month or what your credit card time frame will let you cancel the sale.

if you are foolish and send money and just hope for the best dont come back here crying for justice or sympathy as then you should get little.

Back in the 70s I sent some (little) cash in the mail. It got to the recipient.
Yellow mail envelope 2 layers of cardboard with the cash in the middle and cardboard edge taped.
Inserted several pinches of dry sand loose in the envelope.
Why sand?
On the envelope I marked DO NOT OPEN, COCKROACH EGGS. . . the sand sounded like loose cockroach eggs.
