Safety Game

Does anyone play games of only safeties?
I was thinking it would be kind of fun and educational to play a game where both players had to play safe on each turn until a shot arose that once pocketed ends the game. Maybe 3 fouls ends the game as well. How would you start a game like this? I don't think it would be fair to start with the typical straight pool opening break.

I'd say start with a full rack and ball in hand behind the line. The first shot has to be a legal safe, not a legal break. Then go from there.

The only tough part is finding someone to play against...

I sometimes set it up like this and see how many safes I can get in a row without a shot popping out - I just pretend to play both sides and take fouls when necessary, but not three in a row.

If you don't already know, Irving Crane used to spend an hour or more every day playing himself safe.
Do I? Good grief, NO!

I've practiced safety wars at times with friends. Usually for no longer than 30 minutes or so.

It did help in other matches for sure, but I can't say my 1P game got any better, that would take a miracle.
