I'll be staying with family in San Francisco the first week in February and was wondering if anyone here can recommend a place to play three cushion that I wouldn't need a car to 'easily' get to. Thanks.

There are tables at Billiard Palacade in the Mission, but from what I hear they are marginal at best. The only "real" billiard room with good equipment is Edgie's in Milpitas (a good fifty miles from the City) which has six Chevillottes and several good players. There are two rooms in Mountain View (about 35 miles south) with one table each. Shoreline Billiards has one antique Brunswick that plays like an antique Brunswick and the management has no idea how to clean the balls. On the plus side, that's where Bob Jewett hangs out and he has his own set of balls. The California Billiard Club (also in Mountain View but several miles from Shoreline) has one Verhoeven which is fairly well maintained, but again the management doesn't understand the importance of ball cleaning. It's where I play, and I also have my own balls.
Mountain View is easier to get to from the City. There is a passenger train, Caltrain, that runs frequently and reliably roughly every half-hour, and there is a stop less than a mile from my house. If you would like to get together, I would be more than happy to pick you up at the train station. I'm available all day every day until 6 PM or so. Both of the Mountain View rooms open at 11:30 daily.

Thanks so much for the reply. The week in San Fran will be my last chance to play three cushion for at least a year - I'm leaving South Florida for New Zealand, so I may definitely take you up on your offer. It's just depressing that when you inevitably beat me it'll be at least 12 months before I'll get a re-match!
