San Francisco Pool Halls

Im going to San Fran tomorrow on business...i will have some spare time. ...
i would really like to walk to a hall if possible. when searching google i see Jillian's, Family Billiards, Billiard Palacade, King Kong and Hollywood Billiards. Which has the best tables/players?
Family has the best players, I think. Hollywood used to be Cochran's which had a great history in the 50's and 60's but it has suffered from various problems since and I think a large part of it was turned into a dance floor. Jillian's is closest to you in the Metreon (a restaurant and entertainment building) and is a reasonable place to take friends to for lunch and a little pool, but it's really hard to find or play a serious game there.

Chalkers

Thanks Mr. J for the great currrent response. I am not going to SF in the near future but get up there often. My best memory of SF pool was Chalkers Billiards in the Embarcadero area....I took a lesson from Billy and bought a Cousins Cue. It was a class act. Gone now  .

family billiards

Family Billiards is really the only option. You'll have to take a cab there. Its on Geary and Wood (near masonic if you mapquest it) Most of the good players are in Reno right now, so it will be kinda quiet tomorrow. The front five tables are real tight, two in back (18 & 19) are about right for my taste and the rest are pretty big pockets, all were recovered about 3 months ago and are in real nice shape. If you PM me I might be able to steer you into a fair game.
