What are the better pool halls in the San Francisco area?

I am going to be in town near the Bay Bridge.

I saw Chalkers listed in a yellow pages search, but somewhere saw that it closed.

Chalker is no longer in business, Broken Rack in the Emeryville in Berkekley , in San Francisco Family Billiard, in San Jose California Billiards:D

Adios Chalkers

So sad this place is long gone. A super location at the Embarcadero. It was one of the coolest most upscale rooms SF has ever seen. I bought my first custom cue there (Cousins) and took a lesson from Billy. It was not a big action room but the place for the Market Street crowd. Then came the dot.com depression and I guess that high rent location was no longer profitable.

Don't bother

Family has nice equipment, not much for action. Broken Rack in Emeryville has some 1p action. There are some good players in S.F. but the pool scene is not that great. Honestly there are a lot better things to do while visiting San Francisco, other than going to the pool rooms here.
Do you have any recommendations on the Houston area? I am moving there in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to all for the help in SF.

Legends in League City (south of Houston in I-45) has action with plenty of tables. Rack and Cue toward downtown (it has been quite a few years since I have been there). Boogies out toward George Bush Intercontinental airport (Kim White's mainstay). Clicks on NW side off Hwy 290 has quite a few tables and 3- 9 FT tables.

There are some chains in Houston (Slick Willies, Barneys, Fast Eddies). Not the best - but convenient. I normally go to these - since they are a short drive.

Thanks for the info. How is the 1P scene there in Houston? I haven't played at all for the last two years, but I was really starting to get into one pocket when I stopped playing.

Since were on the N. Ca topic, anything near Vacaville or Sacramento other than Hard Times??

In Sacto, there is The Jointed Cue on Fruitridge. In Vacaville, I believe Stix was the room to go to there but it may be out of business.
