Sardo 5000???

I called moments before you posted, and I was told the same thing. I'm kinda bummed that they haven't upgraded the shipping from UPS Ground free of charge for us having to wait (doing so would seal the deal with me as a customer - I'd appreciate it tremendously and it'd show "good faith" on their part), so as it stands now we'll still wait another week after they ship just to get them.

So I'm figuring by Friday of next week.
I think if they ship today we may end up getting them early next week. I dont think they are to far from us east coasters. Plus UPS ground usually only takes a couple days from west coast to east coast.

Last I talked to BCn he stated they were in and began shipping. I called them and he stated that I should be getting an email soon regarding the shipping information. Still have yet to get that email.

I know Fred (cornerman) got his, but did anyone who ordered through BCn get one yet?

I've yet to get mine (or an email). I've called a few times. Today I called and left a message.

OK, here's what's happened to me.

Last week I called BCN and was told "two more weeks." I'd been hearing that for the past two months. Icon of Sin happened to IM me at the time, too. I called Sardo, then, and Andra told me that "BCN gets the first racks, and the only ones we've sent out thus far have been to tournaments. We should get another shipment next Tuesday" (which would be yesterday).

Fed up with waiting, I inquired with JoeRackem of Nielsen Billiards. Others here have spoken highly of him and I've made two very nice, smooth purchases through him. At any rate, he said he received 22 awhile ago, new in a box, not used in a tournament or anything like that. I told him what Andra had told me and inquired why I couldn't pay $60 S&H included as both BCN and Sardo were selling them for this price. He talked about how he was sold racks awhile ago (and had only 4 or 5 left) at a higher price, and how it was pretty lame that Sardo would compete directly with their dealers by offering obviously a lower price. This is a summary, and I don't want to speak for Joe @ Nielsen, so please don't take what I've said here as anything more than a summary and my recollection.

At any rate, I purchased a rack from Joe on Friday. Late Friday. It shipped Monday first thing and I got it today. Setup took, at most, 10 minutes. I measured a lot and followed the instructions. The rack works really well, it's lightweight, and at no point do you hammer balls into the table. In fact, here are the instructions: Sardo Instructions. You'll note that they say "tap gently."

I tapped extremely gently. The rack works really well and slow-rolling balls through the racking area produces NO noticeable swerves or whatever. None. I see absolutely nothing different in the cloth (it's just over a month old). No dents, no white spots, and sure as heck no holes or anything like that.

All seems well. Racking requires very little pressure, so I don't foresee creating any problems over time, either.

Glad you finally got one. Thanks for the review. Im starting to think BCN is full of sh!t. They kep stating they were first on the list to receive them but I see other people with the racks already who have not ordered from BCN.

I cancelled my order with BCN last week and ordered from the guy who was advertising it in the IPT forum here off of ebay. It shipped yesterday so should be here this week or early next. The one coming to me is also new and not used in any tournaments either.

I find it funny that if BCN is first on the list to receive them, how come we never received ours from them and other people have got them elsewhere.

After that whole Chalk-Off/Quick-Clean debacle I would personally not want to order anything from BCn anyway.

Glad you are enjoying your Sardo. So can you make the wing ball on every break now?

A few things. First, BCN "made it up to me." I don't want to give away specifics, but I have nothing bad to say about them at this point. I don't have anything great to say, either, but nothing bad. I consider the deal I got a square one.

I played using it last night. We found it easy. Racking a set of 10 balls wasn't very easy - if you weren't careful it'd push the back row of balls backwards just a little. Very little pressure is required.

I have no idea how to break in 9-ball, but we played two hours of 9 ball at one point and I was making the 1 in the side pretty consistently. On one rack I made four balls. I was hitting the head ball very squarely and putting just enough draw on the cue ball to come back to the center of the table.

We won't use the rack all the time, but it did its job and eliminated any mushy racks, that's for sure.

Nice to hear your deal has been sorted out by Bcn. Seems a shame you have to complain in public to get good service, but there it is.

Did you setup the Sardo with the regular spot position, or are you putting the 9 on the spot like they do on TV? Also, does the problem with the last row moving also affect a 15 ball rack, or just 10?

Uhm, foot spot under the 1. Apparently I haven't watched enough TV or paid close enough attention. They put the 9 on the spot? Really? I'm not going to be doing that.

No, just a 10. And once you figure out where and how to press down (push down towards the rear just a bit first), you can get a 10-ball rack pretty easily. Your alternative, I suppose, would be to rack 15 balls and just slide the last row out, but it takes very little effort to figure out how to get 10 racked nicely.

My only regret at this point is that I guess I'll have to make my own 7-ball guide (from the supplied 15-ball guide) - no template for 7-ball provided. I don't play a LOT of 7-ball, but I do on occasion. That or I can just keep using my wood triangle rack for 7-ball.

They started the practice of racking the balls in that fashion in 2001 at the U.S. Open if I remember correctly. That's also the year when the Sardo rack also was beginning to be used at that event. I think the Derby also did that for their 2002 event for both Banks and 9-ball, again using the Sardo rack.

It was something the WPBA were doing for serveral years when they were sponsored by Sardo. (Last year Brunswick was picked up as the "official rack sponsor" so they are back to using a regular wooden rack with a big Brunswick logo on it) I heard it was done because the same wing ball was being made in the same corner pocket every break. When they moved the 9 onto the spot it became harder to do this, but supposedly easier to make the 1 in the side instead. Not sure if other tours that have used Sardo's (I know the UPA have used them in some tournaments) have done this too.

FWIW, the template that comes with the Sardo (you can see a picture of it in the instructions I linked to above), has you mark the little alignment dot swith the 1 Ball on the foot spot. None of this newfangled weird "9 on the spot" business! :)
