Sardo Tight Racks

Dude, they wouldn't go near those tables! The Sardo rack is a nightmare. I know there are a lot of people out there that really wished there was an easy way to rack the balls but unfortunately, there simply isn't. If this is the solution, it must be said that there is a huge compromise.

There is an easy way to rack the balls and all you need is a good wooden rack (such as a roll-a-rack) and a table without indentations in it from the Sardo or some smuck hammering the head ball into the cloth with another ball. :(

Can you explain how? It's almost impossible to give a decent rack at the local poolhall. I don't know what it is, but the first three balls won't touch each other even when they are still in the triangle and you press them against each other. Is that because of the rack or all the balls misshaped or something? It drives me nuts!

If there are divots in the table from other people "tapping" the head ball in, then what I find I have to do is let the head ball "find" where it wants to be and "following" it with the other balls. The problem you've described sounds like cheap racks, try turning the rack to another corner sometimes it'll be better. If the balls aren't a consistent size I have no idea what to do about that, seems to me they just aren't going to touch all around.
I'm not a particular good player, but I've never had anybody complain to me about my rack (though I'm sure Earl would ;) ).

BTW, Jude you shouldn't try to make it seem like the Sardos are bad people. Have you ever seen those photos of Carmen Sardo smiling, well that is a GENUINE smile. The Sardo brothers are by far the most pleasant, honest and well mannered people I have ever met. They love pool and would in no way try to hurt the game. I've played on tables using the Sardo rack and I didn't notice any problems with holes in the cloth. I heard about it leaving little divots where the balls settle into, but you get that from racking the balls in the same spot for a long time also. I mean jeez if you want to talk about what damages the cloth, try the BREAK! Have you ever seen a table after hundreds of breaks? You see lines going across the table from the spot to the side rails or the center. Oh, and jump shots! Jump shots damage the cloth, they leave little "holes", and so do masse shots! If you guys are going to complain about tiny divots in the cloth to make the balls rack easier, and not even mention what the break shot alone does to the the spot where the one ball is placed, yeah it gets pretty bad.

For those who would like to know when we in britain say quid it is a slang term for pounds (so 100 quid would be 100 pounds) its just like bucks is a slang term for dollars in the U.S
