I'm watching efren on sargo and frequently the ref/Racker is going up and appears to be marking position of a couple balls. I have watched other matches from the Philippines and it looked like they were picking bugs off the table. WTF are they doing?

If a ball is moved by accident, it might need to go back. They are marking the position of those balls with what looks like talc/hand powder.

That's kinda what I thought but I've never seen it otherwise. Some of the matches I've seen where the table was open to the outdoors I'm pretty sure they were picking bugs off the table.
