Saw blade help/info

I use a saw machine to taper my cue looking to get a little better results.
How would a 24t 10inch flat top grind thats 1/4 kerf work ? I know more teeth would be better but found this online and was curious.
Also anyone give me some ideas ,on teeth and speeds ? Thanks in advance for any help . Bill
 
For a saw machine you need a 60 tooth Falt top grind saw blade. Do a search for General Saw Blade company.
 
The quarter inch kerf is a waste. An eighth inch kerfX10 inch 60 tooth flat top at 3450 or more RPM would be fine. Rotation and feed rate qwould need to be determined by trial and error.

Paul - Why would you consider 1/4 a waste? I'd think a stiffer plate and increased rigidity would lead to a cleaner cut?

Waste means more than needed for the job. But there is another reason to stay away from wider blades. The blade works like a fan and the wider the teeth the more wind it is moving. So when cutting thinner shafts a wider blade can cause vibration from the wind shaking the shaft. It won't be a problem on thicker cuts and might even benefit a little if the blades are not dead center to the shaft, but beyond that it is trouble waiting to happen.

Buy a good set of blade stiffeners. You need to buy a good blade to insure a properly flattened plate. The actual cutting area is going to be under an 1/8 of an inch so paying all that extra $$ for the wider carbide ia a waste.
