I am making a carbon fiber shaft for a guy that has an old Schmelke with the wide joint pin. What size tap is needed ? I am having trouble with google, lol. Thank you

A liitle imagination is all it takes. I was never crazy about Schmelke's use of a phillips screw in the center of thier joints but there's options.

I don't know anything about the taps on Amazon. I bought one once for the new Cuetec weight bolts.
Didn't work.
If I was to do this. I would want two taps. The regular and a bottoming.

Having spoken with David a time or two I would call him and ask, he has always been helpful to me ... just the opinion of a satisfied repeat Schmelke customer.

I'm thinking an insert could be made that threads into the c/f but the head is big eneogh so it could be threaded for the 1/2x24.
It doesn't have to be a brass collar on the shaft.
Something like this only a little bigger.
Imagination !

Logically. But I think the point is that it’s never been done.

If he chooses the insert approach, I think the Cue would play much better than the full brass like thiers.

I haven't made one yet.
