ok.. here is a question...

a paul motty shaft will fit on a schon no problem, but when you try to put a schon shaft onto a mottey, they wont fit.. and they both are 5/16x14... it just seems the mottey pin is slightly larger in diameter..

i dont plan on playing with a schon shaft, but i have always been happy with the schon quality and thought it would be alittle more inexpensive alternative to a mottey shaft especially for a spare...

thanks..chris

Actually, a Motty is a 5/16 X 14 but a Schone isn't. A Schones pin is a 14 thread but it is slightly smaller than a 5/16 as is their insert.

Chris,

The SCHON shaft can be "tapped" and it will screw onto the MOTTEY, but, the insert on the SCHON shaft is apprx .530 which may be too large for the MOTTEY pilot. If that's the case the insert can be reduced to size.

Same as my early It's George.

Is that why my schon shaft fits my joss but joss don't screw all the way down on the schon butt? Leonard

> Precisely. The Schon pin, particularly on older cues,is a .302-14,exactly .010 undersized. The reason I had to buy 3 sets of joint protectors before I found some that the shafts,is the same reason your Schon shafts won't fit anything else. The tap will correct this, but it probably voids the warranty,it won't feel the same screwing it together, and the tap is exorbitantly high considering you only have to use it once for that cue. You can't just go out and buy it either,MSC or Travers has them priced a little more reasonably, but I promise you regardless of where you live, that you can't buy one unless you get it from a cuemaker,or an MSC or Travers outlet.
