A friend of mine owns this one, actually it's twin too. Very nice.

These days it's hard to find quality wood for pool cues. Schon still makes excellent cues in my opinion but it is possible that some of the materials used now are lesser quality than older schons. Also some of the older schon models had sharp points, now they have rounded points made by a CNC machine.

If you are looking for a steel joint cue I would recommend calling Garten Bierbower and have him custom make you one. You may have to pay a little extra compared to a schon but he makes the best old school style cue money can buy.

Garten had a stroke and is not back to building yet.

They started using cnc and rounded points while Runde was still there. Nothing new. I'm not a fan of some of their newer designs but imo they play the same and quality is still there.

Top was an SP, middle Elite, Bottom a LTD. I will look for the #'s Like them all, Bought the top one first, goofed up and cracked the butt cap on a table by my pool table. Was going close by Schon's factory to see the family for the weekend, so I dropped it off on a Friday afternoon, Monday they called to say it was done but I was already home, so they sent it. When it got here, wife and I were playing pool in the basement at the time and she wasn't doing so good. I unwrapped the cue and she took it out of my hands and started to play with it. She beat me the 1st game she played with it and told me it was her cue now till I got another one, so I ordered the one on the bottom. The cue on the bottom is now her cue. Then I bought a DZ cue, and really liked it but always wanted a no wrap cue, so I talked to him about building one, and was going to do it but the Schon no wrap in the middle came up for sale, so I bought it, it's a fantastic cue, and that is my main playing cue.

Middle no wrap Schon Elite E2177
The bottom LTD is a 202

I just looked and found a no wrap like mine for sale at a reasonable price, it's new and won't last long. Heck, I like mine so much I may buy it. Probably not though, as I would like another no wrap with some darker woods. Not sure if I'm allowed to post where it's for sale, if not, just pm me.

What Schon models are these?
Both I believe are Prototypes. They are Really nice well balanced Cues. One is the standard 5/16x14. The other was a prototype joint screw simular to a Radial but smaller. I switched it to a Radial as he plays with c/f shafts.

I had a ltd-202 cue I bought in the 90's

That r14 re-pop is nice. Classic design. If schon would go back to or make a few (say five here and five there) of their classic cues with spliced points with veneers they would sell like hotcakes. I have a model 5 and a model 9. If they had spliced points they would be pure class. I still kick myself for not buying a used stl20 15 years ago for $1100 haven't seen another used one up for sale since. I think they want $2400 now with synthetic inlays
