IIRC the CX cues came out around '93-'94ish.CX line came much later, early 2000’s
It looks a bit like an SL4 but rings on the butt are wrong
I stand correctedIIRC the CX cues came out around '93-'94ish.
This sounds accurate.IIRC the CX cues came out around '93-'94ish.
The schon archives doesn't show a CX34. I am not 100% positive but I believe Evan said that pin was use in 92 or 93 with a few left being used for a few specialty cues but were all gone by 96.
I was off a few. I asked this on SchonCollect. FB page and head guru Donny said CX's came out in '99. The OP needs to ask Donny Lavery on the Schon FB page. Guy knows a shit ton about them. This sounds accurate.
I have a CX18 purchased in '93 with the signed shaft collar.
I have an CX18, too. On the butt cap it's written "schon" not "schön". Same on my CX24. Does this fit in time? I don't know when it was written "schon" an when "schön".This sounds accurate.

Old thread, but in case it comes up, don’t anyone call this an Acme thread. The schon archives doesn't show a CX34. There was a short period where Evan and I spoke almost every day. I still have a messenger filled with his audio recordings. He was one of the most fascinating people I've known and I miss talking to him.Old thread, but in case it comes up, don’t anyone call this an Acme thread.
1993 is when Evan introduced that pin, which was made to more tight tolerance, using CNC turning. It’s bullet-nosed piloted Schon undersized 5/16-14, and it fits all other Schon shafts of that thread. Someone erroneously called it an Acme Pin. There is nothing Acme about it, so whoever started that should be flogged and labeled for the Dunning Kruger that it is. And of course with the Internet, it’s spread like wildfire. Additionally, although Evan shortly used it in 1993, he used it in other years as well, especially if people would ask for it, but it didn’t get the reception and people complained, so he reverted back to what he considered the inferior joint pin. Because of all this, it pissed Evan off. So that pen is now officially… OK unofficially… Called the PISSEVANOFF pin.
Even made a great video or two of his thoughts on this joint pin. Great guy. I’m proud to have been his friend.
