just wondering what you all fortunate to own one of these think of them and how it compares to the non ivory ferrule schon shaft

My opinion is that they are a little different, good solid feel.
I think you can get close to the same feel if you take off a 1/4 inch of the plastic ferrule on standard shaft.

It however is still different. I guess you just got to try one :)

Go Ivory.......

I own a early Schon ('85) that came with 2 shafts with Micarta ferrules. I've since added 2 more Schon shafts with ivory ferrules..............Let me tell you ivory ferrules are a real plus to play with.....the sound and feel are unique and wonderful versus other materials, including the much heralded Micarta ferrules of years bygone. Definitely go with ivory ferrules!

Recently had my cue refinished at Schon up in Milwaukee and had a new shaft matched to it. They did an amazing job on it. Only thing I didn't care for was the ultra hard tip the new shaft came with and the 'ivorine' ferrule it had on it. Will be replacing it soon. The refinishing job made the cue literally look like it did in 1991 when I purchased it new, and the fitting of the shaft is perfect. Kudos overall to Schon's craftsmen, but I learned I should have went with the OB shaft or at least the ivory ferrule they offered instead of the stock one.
