Schon LTD vs Custom

Been looking at these lately and was wondering if you think they are worth it. You can get a very nice custom for the price, but everyone I talk to seems to think Schon is as on par with custom as a production cue can get. Is this true? Also of the LTD's listed on Schons website which is your favorite?
 
A Schon from any line (ST, SL, STL, CX, etc. etc. etc.) IMO shoots just as good as an LTD. My ST1 plays exactly like another guy's LTD that I shot with last week. ~$700 price difference too...

I have a beautiful LTD,, Its a older one with different ringwork than most have , fresh refinish and leather wrap,,cue looks as new...contact me if your interested <ED

depends on what you mean by better or on par...

playability, design, is relative Schons are great playing cues with great designs. but then again there are other manufactures whom make great products as well. if all you care about are looks and playability, you can't go wrong with schon or mezz.

however

if you're looking for something more original, to your liking or specifications. and something with a little more personality. i would suggest a custom. there's something to be said about a cue that's made just for you.
 
Schon came out of the starting gate on fire back in the 1980's. It was probably the favorite cue that most A players were using at the time. Being located in Texas, lots of Joss West and Richard Blacks were popular among the A players but when I went on the road, Schon was dominating among A players. I purchased a Schon S-10 from Javier Franco that was one of the first 100 Schon cues made and I still use it after 30 years. The cue was about six months old when I purchased it from Javier who had ordered a Southwest and as a friend sold me the Schon for only $175. Nowdays I have cue dealers offering me $1,500 for the cue so I figure it is worth more than that.

When I met Shane two years ago he was using a Schon.

If you like the look and hit of the Schon, go for it and do not ever look back and feel you should have done something else. As far as a custom cue goes, some of it has to do with wait time and sometimes those cues will sell for more than you paid for it because some people do not want to wait and will pay a premium for a done cue. As far as playability, Schon is just as good as anything on the market if you like the hit.

All Schon cues are supposed to be made to the same exacting standards. I absolutely love my CX-08 with an OB 1 shaft.
