I thought I read here once that Szamboti used to make parts for cue makers ike Balabushka and maybe Schon. I have a Runde schone that has inlays that look like his work. I will post pics later.

Peace,
Johnny

Gus didn't do any work for Schon that I know of. Gus had his hands full with his own cue business during those years (1980's) plus he still was making blanks for Palmer and doing work for them (as a favor, more or less).

I would be surprised if Schon ever had to outsource any work. Bob Runde did the early Schon work and he was (is) quite the cue-maker. Here are some early pages of Schons from about 1984 - 1990.

Hey there must be a misprint in the catalog.. the R-14 has only one inlay per prong... :D

Schon made a lot of cues in the early years that had elements of one another! For example, please view the attached URL, would you call this an R1? Evan said they would add inlays to the standard cues and charge on a per inlay basis.

Runde Schon's are the ONLY Schon's!

I used to work in Terry Romine's original poolroom when they first started Schon Cues. Bob Runde learned to perfect his craft and made Schon Cues the reputation they enjoy to this day. Too bad they started outsourcing a lot of their parts, the cues were much higher in quality when Bob was involved with all aspects of their creation, JMHO.

That's a neat cue. Not a Szamboti, but I'm pretty sure it's a one of a kind. I can't really tell from the photo, but the points are sharp, right?

The thing to do is mail a few photo's to Bob Runde at 21751 65th Street, Bristol, WI 53104. (He's not the e-mail type). Then, give it a few days, and call him at 262-857-6533. He doesn't mind at all talking about his early cues. he's made a lot - I bet he remembers this one because the inlays are so unusual for a Schon.

If you want to sell it, I am sure we can find a buyer around here pretty fast.

Johnny,

I just got an e-mail from Barry Szamboti. He said that Gus did make some forearms for Schon in the 1980's, but not very many.

Maybe someone can check with Bob Runde to find out what he made.
