I picked up an old R1 about a year ago that had the butt cap replaced. The butt cap is not in that great and I was hoping to replace it with an original one or a new one if there is such a thing. Any ideas of what I can do or who I need to talk to that can do the work with the original script?

Schon is the place.
The bad news. They may not do it because someone else worked on the cue.
Thier Policy.

I haven't heard they wouldn't work on a cue if worked on by someone else???? I do know they won't or can't engrave the older period engravings in the cap. The fact that they don't or won't do that makes no sense. It would not only bring a much needed service to their own past work, but more business as well. Regardless there are those out there who will do it pretty much exactly as it was originally. (Not endorsing that)

I got that info direct from Evan when he was there.

Update
Schons policy now is.
If someone else works on the cue, and you need Schon to do something, you have to send it in and they will look at it and make a decision whether they will work on it or not.
