I have seen the R16 in the 1990 catalog shown with round points. Was it made earlier with sharp points? And what year was it last made?

yes. http://www.palmercollector.com/Schon/SchonFirstCataloScan.html i think '87-'88 was last yr for sharp points. i have a SL-7 from 88-92 and it has round points.
