Hi,
I have been offered a Schon S2 from the 1980s. Good condition. Implex joint. I wonder what it should be worth. Just dun want to pay through the roof for an old cue. Also, how are the Schon S-series compared to the R-series, in terms of hit and quality. Any info and advise will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
Anyone with info on the Schon S-2??? Thanks.

Kai

Kai,

Sorry - this would have been better seen in the wanted/for sale section where us cue nerds hang.

As a collectible they are a good one for a plain cue. I would say $500 with one shaft and $650 with 2, this assuming it is in excellent condition and reasonably straight and original.

The S series was only made for 1 year. There were problems with the cues in terms of durability and Schon quickly abandoned the design, replacing them with the R series.

If you look at my site, I did a few pages for old school Schon collectors - here's a copy of the brochure:

schon S2

the S2 that is being talked about is MY cue. It is original and in immaculate shape with 2 shafts that roll straight both on and off the cue. everything on this cue is original and without blemishes. this person Kai has called and emailed quite a few times and has been told the condition. i'm trying to sell this cue for less than your appraisal. buy the damn cue.

Many years ago on a planet far,far away I acquired a nice S-14. Got it RIGHT. The joint fell off after about the 14th ball I hit. I was still into it right sfter the joint was repaired. By some miracle I think I made a $ on that cue.:)

There is nothing wrong with finding a bit more about the cue you are interested in buying. It is my money and I like to be careful on how I spend it.

We took your advice and did just that. My buddy Hersheybarbill got it. Bill is a great guy and it was a good deal all the way around. He has a nice Schon collection - this cue fits perfectly. We had discussed this cue and it looked like it was was going to be me or him pulling the trigger.

Thank you - your description here sold us too.

I am more than happy to buy this S2 and add it to my Schon collection. I hope it is as nice as described here and can't wait to get my hands on it.
