Schuler Question

Besides Schuler himself, Noel Mendoza, and Jacoby, do you know any other cue makers that make cues with the Schuler joint? I am not asking who will make a shaft for one, but what others might make cues with that joint.

I am especially asking about older cue makers, maybe 20, 30, 40, or even 50 years ago.

I have a cool cue I took a chance and picked up cheap ($65) on Ebay a few years ago. It's in storage, and I never took detailed pictures, just put it away and forgot about it. It has the Schuler joint, but not the weight system. When I get it out at some point I will get detailed pictures. I am theorizing it could be a very early Schuler cue, or perhaps made by someone that worked in his shop, or some other.

I have not yet contacted Mendoza. I will when I get the cue out again. I was just curious what knowledge might be floating around about what makers have used this joint.

My 1st thought was, Abe Rich. But, I know that is not the pilot he used. That butt reminds me of Abe Rich though. Lol, maybe it is an Abe Rich, with a Schuler shaft customized onto it, by some unknown person.

The shaft looks like a Carom shaft, which is what Schuler mainly built, I believe.

Thanks. It's not likely a converted Rich cue. It has a proper complete Schuler joint, not just a Schuler shaft pilot. The finish is worn off the butt sleeve. A cue maker with Schuler experience suggested I use a UV light to look for residual evidence of a signature, he agreed it might be a very early Schuler. I will try that when I get my cues out, they are all still in storage.

Now that this came up again I should mention I did find another maker that uses the Schuler joint.

eSBee Stany Buyle

I found a Hoppe Pro cue that needed joint and ferrule work, plus I wanted 2 new shafts.
I sent it to Noel and he built the new shafts with the Schuler joint (metal pilot) and the original shaft came back
with the Schuler design except with a Hoppe style wood pilot.

He did a great job on everything BTW.

Stany builds very nice cues for 30 years , using schuler joints (and wood joints too) .
There is another french cuemaker who uses the Schuler joint for may be 10 years.
The cue in this thread isn't Stany's work, 100% sure.

Thanks. I agree it's not a Stany.

I merely wanted to mention the maker as I think many in the US are unfamiliar.
