Watching pool on ustream .
Yellow balls
Red balls and a black
Looks like 8ball
Shooter strikes a yellow , first, while playing reds
Foul? Yellow player puts cb in kitchen shoots to move
A yellow. Then shoots again running his group.

What is the rule?

Was kind of cool if you really think about it.

Playing this way adds more power to foul.

UK 8 Ball is the game. Reds and yellows, the same as solids and stripes. Black ball is the 8 ball.

Sounds like they may be playing EPA rules. Upon a foul (hitting the wrong coloured ball in this case) the player has the option to move the white into the kitchen or play from where it stops. The player has 2 visits to the table and a visit is only ended due to a miss. There is another rule that when you have 2 shots your first shot can be a "free ball" and can hit the black, or oppositions colour. If you pot the oppositions colour that is classed as a legal pot and you still have your 2 shots. You can not pot the black on a free ball or that is loss of frame.

So, sounds to me like the reds had 2 shots. Moved it into the kitchen, noticed a yellow blocking his run out and tried to pocket the yellow as his free ball option then cleared his red balls and black to win the frame. No BIH in UK 8 Ball, only BIH behind the kitchen line.

Pidge thanks for explanation.
Think this is a great rule.

Player actually put ball in kitchen and moved a yellow( his group) tp a better spot.
Then proceeded his run.

I misread the original post. Its a lot simpler than I made out in this instance. You get two visits once a player fouls. So this guy noticed his yellow in a bad spot, wasted his first visit moving the bad yellow and then ran the remaining yellows out on his second visit.

I much prefer the 2 visit rule than 1 visit with BIH. From am attacking perspective you often have more than 1 cluster which means BIH and 1 visit can only take care of that cluster. With 2 visits from the kitchen you can play a pot and try disturb one cluster, if you miss the break out then you can just waste a visit if needed then play on with the second visit. It punishes a foul more Imo especially in games like 8 ball.

Blackball rules are the only even vaguely sensible rules for E8B. I'd like to see the game played with C8B rules, ie ball in hand.

Two shots are an abomination imo.
