Scratches on table rails

I have had an Olhausen table for approximately 7 years, model 'Monarch' with the wide top rails. Over the years it has accumulated thousands of tiny scratches in the finish, most likely from cues, chalk placed on the rails, kids, you name it. I know I can't get the dents out, but is there a procedure for buffing out the tiny micro scratches from the finish? It was so nice and smooth when I first had it ... :)

I have a dining table with almost the same finish, that has suffered the same fate, wondering if any fix could be applied to that as well.

Rail scratches

I'd seek out a local woodworker, custom cabinet shop or furniture refinisher and ask what they would recommend. There are some real craftsmen out there that have forgotten more about wood refinishing than I could ever know.
A lot might depend on what the composition of the original finish was and what is compatible with todays modern finishes. Much has changed since Big Brother got involved with what can and can't be used these days.

If the rails are wood, not composition, you can get dents out easy as well as scratches. Look for an antique restorer.
